The part-time programme at MEL is the same as the full-time programme with regard to the modules to be taken, but it is delivered over a two-year period instead of one year period. The lectures are generally given in the morning, and sometimes they are in the afternoon (there are no lectures during the evening or at the weekend). The split of courses between years 1 and 2 can be decided in coordination with the MEL Office. In this way, we can accommodate personal circumstances such as work-related projects or other commitments that are known in advance.

Some courses are typically scheduled in the first year (such as the courses in Economics and Data Science), and we must consider programme requirements with regard to sequencing. Beyond that, we have significant flexibility to accommodate individual needs.

Typically, one would expect to have 3 to 4 hours per course per week. Generally, there will be 3 to 4 courses per block for a full-time student. Additionally, there is time allocated for the MEL events. For part-time students, we will prepare a custom programme for each student based on the overall programme structure, the sequencing requirements, and their backgrounds. So, part-time students would generally take either one or two courses per block.

No, international students cannot join the MEL part-time programme because they cannot receive the necessary 2-year visa required for part-time study under current immigration rules.

Current immigration regulations do not support issuing 2-year visas for the MEL part-time programme to international students. Therefore, the part-time option is restricted to EU citizens who do not face these visa constraints.

International students can join the full-time MEL programme and apply for a 1-year student visa, which aligns with the duration of the full-time study programme.
